Excellent Below-level Reach For A Challenging Task In Martinique

Genie® Z®-80/60 boom lift proves its worth on a challenging, time-limited application

Excellent Below-level Reach For A Challenging Task In Martinique Part of the road, and in particular a series of tight bends leading to Grand'Rivière, a small, isolated fishing village located at the north of Martinique on the foothills of Mount Pelée, was in urgent need of reinforcement. To respond to the needs of its customer BTP Hydrosee based in Saint Pierre, who was in charge of the project, rental company Loca System recommended an articulating Genie® Z®-80/60 boom lift for the job.

Because part of the job involved projecting concrete to strengthen its supporting walls, operators needed a single machine combining long horizontal outreach and below-level capabilities adapted to the site’s abrupt verticals to perform the task. They also required a sufficiently compact machine to enable traffic to circulate while work was in progress. And, uncertain weather conditions added to the challenges of a job scheduled for completion within a two-month timeframe. To complete the task on-time and as efficiently as possible, the Genie Z-80/60 boom lift was chosen for its horizontal outreach of more than 18 m (59 ft), below grade reach of almost 5 m (16 ft 4 in), compact dimensions and 1.83 m (6 ft) jib offering a vertical rotation of 135 degrees to enable operators to position themselves accurately.

For Mr. Frédéric Eliazord, Sales Manager, Loca System, the design and features of the Genie Z-80/60 boom lift offer several advantages: Robust stability, fast telescoping boom speed, adequate platform lift capacity and dimensions, efficient fuel consumption, below-grade abilities and quick, easy set-up and operation.

He says: "Thanks to its horizontal outreach of more than 18 m, the Genie Z-80/60 boom lift means that there is no need for scaffolding, which for specific tasks enables operators to work more efficiently and rapidly. This is particularly the case for painting, carpentry and masonry work. Additionally, the machine’s below-grade abilities are a real advantage for BTP for renovation work beneath the existing construction, as well as for work at height where access is restricted.

He continues: "Our customers are very satisfied with Genie products. For them and for us, the machines are perfect and fast. With Genie, we also benefit from the credibility of the right aftermarket service. Our relationship with Genie is excellent, both in terms of sales and technical support and the regular product training that is provided."
